Students tour the boreholes at the construction site of the Frankfurt long-distance rail tunnel

Last Wednesday, May 20, 2026, an excursion was held in conjunction with our industry partner DBInfraGO as part of the “Infrastructure Project” module. The purpose of the trip was to visit a construction site where drilling is taking place for the long-distance rail tunnel in Frankfurt am Main.

Department of Land Management supports the Doctoral Research Programme of WASCAL in Minna, Nigeria

The Department of Land Management is supporting the doctoral research programme of the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria. WASCAL is a large-scale, research-oriented climate service center that receives substantial support from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with the goal of intensifying cooperation between universities abroad. During a two-week teaching and research stay from March 23rd to April 3rd, the collaboration with TU Darmstadt contributes to strengthening education in geoinformation, spatial analysis, and data-based approaches for climate-related research and land-use questions.

20th conference of the International Academic Association on Planning, Law, and Property Rights (PLPR)

Atlanta. The Technical University of Darmstadt was represented at this year’s 20th conference of the International Academic Association on Planning, Law, and Property Rights (PLPR). On behalf of the Department of Land Management, doctoral candidate Rebecca James, M.Sc., attended the international conference to present her research on gentrification processes in South America. The conference provided a platform for interdisciplinary exchange on key challenges in urban and regional development, as well as on legal and institutional issues in this context.

TOD and Green Transformation Towards Sustainability
We are pleased to announce that the call for abstracts for the 11th International Conference on Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) under the theme “Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and Green Transformation Towards Sustainability” is now open. This annual conference is jointly organized by the Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) program, Vietnamese-German University (VGU), and Darmstadt University of Technology. The event will take place on October 24, 2025, at the VGU campus, Ring Road 4, Quarter 4, Thoi Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
