TOD and Green Transformation Towards Sustainability

We are pleased to announce that the call for abstracts for the 11th International Conference on Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) under the theme “Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and Green Transformation Towards Sustainability” is now open. This annual conference is jointly organized by the Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) program, Vietnamese-German University (VGU), and Darmstadt University of Technology. The event will take place on October 24, 2025, at the VGU campus, Ring Road 4, Quarter 4, Thoi Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The conference this year is co-hosted by three academic programs: Sustainable Urban Development – SUD, Architecture – ARC, and Smart Mobility Engineering – SME. It forms part of VGU’s event series “Fostering Green Science and Innovation” in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany.
Conference Overview
Vietnam’s urbanization growth is shifting toward mass transit as a key driver, with Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) regarded as a strategic solution to traffic congestion, housing shortages, and economic growth. However, successful TOD implementation faces significant challenges, including legal framework, institutional arrangement, financial, and spatial barriers, despite growing political commitment and technological advancements.
The conference aims to gather together leading experts, developers, researchers, and professionals in the field to discuss innovative approaches and solutions, along with the preparation for upcoming massive investments in TOD in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Selected conference papers will be published in a Special volume by the Springer Nature with Scopus Indexed.
