In the SUD study program the first semester is taught online, thus most of the students, especially international students, visit the TU Darmstadt campus for the first time in the second semester. To ensure a successful start, this year for the first time we offered a Welcome Day for students in the last week before the start of the new semester. In addition to an introduction to the Department of Land Management, the event also included a campus tour of the campus Lichtwiese, lunch together in the Mensa and an intercultural training workshop by Dr. Christoph Merkelbach.

At the same time, for the first time there was a SUD career fair for the students of more advanced semesters. At this event presentations were given by the International Career Service Rhein-Main, Dr. Felipe de Souza from the Department of Land Management, Roman Oldenburg research associate at the Institute of Construction Technologies and Management as well as a variety of contributions from SUD alumni who are already well established in professional life in Germany. In addition to application tips and an introduction to potential employers, the SUD students were given the opportunity to network with each other and with alumni in the coffee breaks.

All intakes of the SUD program ended the day together with an international potluck.

On the following day, there was an excursion for all interested students to the nearby Odenwald. During a short hike, students were able to visit the municipalities of Erbach and Michelstadt together with Prof. Linke.
