Excursion “ Entwicklung ländlicher Raum” to the Marburg area

2023/06/28

This year's excursion “ Entwicklung ländlicher Raum”, organized by Martin Schumann from the ADD Trier and Ralf Ufer from the AfB Marburg, led the participating students from the TU Darmstadt and the TU Dresden to the Wetzlar/Marburg area. They were welcomed by several mayors and other local stakeholders and introduced to current challenges and developed solutions. For example, the students were introduced to current land-management approaches for the renaturation of the Lahn, for the innovative use of agricultural land in Cleeberg or the provision of land for the bypass of the B 252. Thuringia has already been envisaged for next year's excursion.

This year's excursion as part of the module “Development of Rural Areas” led to the surroundings of Wetzlar and Marburg. In cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden, the excursion is offered annually in changing regions. The aim is to give students an insight into the practice of rural development.

Six students of the TU Darmstadt could gain exciting insights into different areas of land development during three days. Already on the first day, the municipal conditions, the EU-Life-Project “Living Lahn” as well as the simplified land consolidation procedure “Lahnaue” were impressively presented in the municipality of Heuchelheim with a view to the preparation, the purpose of the procedure, complaints and mediation. The explanations were rounded off by a tour of the procedure area. On the second day the group drove in the morning to the municipality Langgöns, where beside the local conditions also the SILEK Cleeberg including a inspection of the investigation area was discussed. After a refreshment in the grill hut Griedelbach the afternoon was dedicated above all to the topics of the LEADER region Lahn-Dill-Wetzlar as well as the simplified land consolidation Griedelbach“, whereby also here a inspection of the procedure area did not come too briefly. On the third and last day the corporate land consolidation ”Wetter-B 252" was visited, whose goal and purpose is the land provision for the new construction of the federal highway B 252 including the landscape conservation compensation and replacement measures. The networking of the students from both university locations was also strengthened by a joint barbecue on the first evening.

At this point we would like to express our sincere thanks to the colleagues of the TU Dresden for the very good organization. Our special thanks go to Mr. Martin Schumann – lecturer at the TU Dresden and head of the Upper Land Consolidation Authority Rhineland-Palatinate – and the staff of the Office for Land Management Marburg as well as all other speakers, who impressively gave us an understanding of the tasks and challenges of their work through their presentations.
