Challenges in the expansion of renewable energies

The expansion of renewable energies is far behind the targets. Our colleague Benjamin D. Kraff was interviewed by SWR1.

Among the greatest challenges in the construction of wind turbines and the installation of photovoltaic power plants in outdoor areas are the long approval procedures with numerous expert opinions and documents. Therefore, more resources need to be made available and simplified procedures need to be made possible. It is very important to take into account various concerns such as nature conservation, but legal hurdles such as the current lack of privileges for agro-photovoltaics in outdoor areas, for example, make implementation more difficult, thus posing a higher risk and discouraging investors and municipalities.
