Today, the “Multidisciplinary Project” in the English-language Master's programme “Sustainable Urban Development” starts with a tour of the district in Ho Chi Minh City. Since 2012, the TU Darmstadt has been offering this course at the Vietnamese-German University in Ho Chi Minh City.

In this project, the students plan to complete their studies in the coming months with a sustainable development for the neighbourhood. The new construction of the first metro line in Ho Chi Minh City will create two stops in the immediate vicinity of the development area. At the same time, the area is only 2 km away from the city centre. In this respect, considerable urban development changes are to be expected in this area, which is currently characterised by a small lane structure. The interests of the population currently living there must be taken into account in all planning.

At the beginning of April 2020, the students will present their results in a final report and a presentation. In the next winter semester, the group of approx. 30 students of the joint degree program “Sustainable Urban Development” (for more information, see here) offered by the TU Darmstadt together with the Vietnamese-German University in Ho Chi Minh City this year will develop a concept for sustainable urban development for another district of Ho Chi Minh City.
