15th PostDoc & Doctoral Seminar of the DGK – Land and Real Estate Management, August 29–31, 2024, in Darmstadt
2024/09/11
From August 29 to 31, 2024, scholars and researchers gathered in Darmstadt for the 15th Seminar for Postdoctoral and Ph.D. Students. The Department of Land Management of TU Darmstadt was delighted to have the opportunity to host this year’s seminar. The goal of the seminars is to provide young researchers in the field of land and real estate management with a platform to present their ongoing work and receive valuable feedback from a diverse audience that extended beyond their own academic institutions.
This year’s seminar featured four thematic sessions, covering a wide range of research approaches: data analysis, urban planning, real estate market, and rural development.
Among the presentations was one by M.Sc. Jan Schmid, a research associate and Ph.D. candidate from the Department of Land Management, who discussed the challenges and methods for merging listing and transaction data in the real estate market, with a focus on Frankfurt am Main. M.Sc. Laura Mato Julcamoro, also a research associate and Ph.D. candidate from the Department of Land Management, shared and discussed her work on predicting the future of land readjustment (Baulandumlegung) in Germany. Additionally, M.Sc. Julien Kogel, another research associate from the Department, explained his first steps in developing a natural language processing model to evaluate legal considerations in urban land use plan decisions.
In addition to the presentations, the seminar offered ample opportunities for participants to engage in knowledge sharing and networking. A social evening event and an excursion to Frankfurt am Main’s “new old town” provided relaxed and stimulating environments for further discussions and interactions. Next year in 2025, the 16th Seminar for Postdoctoral and Ph.D. Students in Land and Real Estate Management will be hosted by TU Munich.
