Talk on radar remote sensing in peatlands at the International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium

The Greek sun welcomed more than 2,500 scientists to the 44th annual International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS 2024) in Athens from 7 to 12 July.

IGARSS 2024 was a place for lively discussions, inspiring presentations and the exchange of ideas. Under this year's theme “Acting for Sustainability and Resilience”, participants immersed themselves in the world of remote sensing.

Katrin Krzepek from the Remote Sensing and Image Analysis group at TU Darmstadt gave a presentation on the influence of vegetation on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) signals. She presented a case study dealing with drained and rewetted peatlands and the possibilities of radar remote sensing to measure groundwater levels.
