Research Group Contributes with Improved Point Cloud Classification at GeoInfo Conference 2024

2024/07/09

At the Joint 3D GeoInfo Conference and EG-ICE Workshop in Spain, Qipeng Mei presented our newest research on improving deep learning-based point cloud classification using Markov Random Fields with Quadratic Pseudo-Boolean Optimization. This study was a collaboration between the research group Remote Sensing and Image Analysis and Fraunhofer IOSB.

From July 1st to 5th, 2024, the University of Vigo hosted the Joint 3D GeoInfo Conference and EG-ICE Workshop in Vigo, Spain.

The 19th International 3D GeoInfo Conference 2024 aimed to bring together international researchers, practitioners, and professionals from academia, industry, and government. And it focused on the latest advances in 3D geoinformation science and technology, offering a multidisciplinary and intersectoral forum in fields such as 3D/4D data collection, management, data quality, analysis, advanced modeling, and visualization. Discussions included cutting-edge research, standardization, technical implementation, and application issues across different disciplines.

Our group was represented by PhD student Qipeng Mei and Kevin Qiu (external PhD student from Fraunhofer IOSB). Qipeng Mei also presented their collaborative paper, “Improving Deep Learning-Based Point Cloud Classification using Markov Random Fields with Quadratic Pseudo-Boolean Optimization.”
