DGPF in Munich – TU Darmstadt strongly represented

2023/04/05

Professor Iwaszczuk traveled to Munich together with six doctoral students of geodesy and five students. There, the TU Darmstadt team was strongly represented with three posters, three conference presentations and two presentations at the Young Scientists Network.

On March 22 and 23, the conference of the German Society for Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Geoinformation (DGPF) took place in Munich. The DGPF has been holding membership meetings and annual conferences since 1981, but this year there was a new format. The “classical” conference was preceded on March 21 by an event organized by the Young Scientists Network and the DGPF Working Group on Education and Training. In addition to forward-looking technical presentations on e.g. crime scene photogrammetry of the Bavarian State Office of Criminal Investigation and on bots for automatic building material testing of BMW, students had the opportunity to present their projects, bachelor and master theses there.

We were especially proud of the wonderful presentations by our students Timo Kullmann and Rebecca Wiegels, who presented their bachelor's and master's theses, Qipeng Mei, who was nominated for the Karl Kraus Young Investigator Award, and Jakob Schmidt, who won the award for the best conference paper in the photogrammetry category (Photogrammetrie-Preis der Nico Rüpke-Stiftung und der DGPF). The conference papers by Jakob Schmidt, Lina Budde and Jiwei Hou are part of the DGPF conference proceedings.
