Reference Frames and Geokinematics

Within the framework of the CERGOP-2 Environmental EU Project a GNSS network for earth observation in central Europe was established. This network has approximately 105 stations and covers the central European area ranging from Ukraine to Germany and from Poland to Macedonia. As part of the permanent European Network (EPN), this network is observed and evaluated every two years according to the EPN guidelines. The first measurements were in 1994 and the since following time series and station speeds are a profound contribution to Geokinematics in central Europe.

In collaboration with Hessisches Landesamt für Bodenmanagement und Geoinformation the Hessian SAPOS network is being analysed for stability and regional deviation in comparison to the Eurasian tectonic plate. One focal point is the Rhine Graben and the ground motions causes through tectonic and also human-made interventions. Time series analysis with special focus on GNSS station coordinates is an essential task in these studies.
